John Guile Lastmod: 08.19.2004
John Guile (III) was born in Preston, CT in 1739. On 4 Jan 1760, he married his first wife, Sarah, and they had 4 children before she died in 1766. He was remarried later that year, and in 1770, he moved with his second wife, Asenath Eliot, and 4 sons, Asa, Henry, Levi, Rea and daughter Sarah to the Mohawk Valley area in New York, Warrens Bush. John was in the 3rd regiment of the Tryon County Militia during the revolutionary war, and his first 5 sons also served. (Andrew, the 6th son, and my Great x 4 Granfather, was born in 1774 - too young to fight in the revolution). Apparently his house was burned in Indian Raids in 1780, and subsequently Fort Gile/Guile was erected as a local refuge.
